The Supreme Court dismissed a petition yesterday, from the producer of magnum opus Mollywood movie ÂKerala Varma Pazhassi Raja requesting to ensure the movie (based on the first freedom struggle against the British), in the list of Panorama films selected for screening at the International Film Festival of India at Goa. The Supreme Court denied interfering into the issue citing that judges are not the right persons to value an artistic creation. Moreover, as the movie is made with a commercial intent, it hardly qualifies to come under the purview of Article 21 of the constitution. The court also observed that if any clear disorder is found in the selection of the films, then the makers of the movie can approach for any kind of compensation in the future.
The producer of the movie has earlier claimed in his petition that ÂKerala Varma Pazhassi Raja was denied entry into Panorama without rhyme or reason.
The years IFFI will come to a close today with a valedictory function which will have the movieÂs hero and Megastar of Mollywood, Mammootty as the chief guest.
